\"\" Register now! Next Just Transition Platform Conference to take place on 16-18 April\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are delighted to announce that registrations are now open for the next Just Transition Platform Conference<\/strong>, which will be held\u00a0in Brussels and online<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a016-18 April 2024!<\/strong><\/p>\n

This event will be co-hosted by DG REGIO and DG ENER. It will provide a forum for sharing views and experiences on the just transition process to stakeholders from national, local and regional authorities as well as economic and social partners, the wider society and representatives from the European Commission; among them Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira, Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, and the Director-General for Regional and Urban Policy, Themis Christophidou.<\/p>\n

*Registrations for in-person attendance will close on\u00a025 March<\/strong>. Due to the limited capacity of the venue, final confirmation of in-person participation is subject to approval. Registration for online participation will remain open beyond this date.<\/p>\n

About the event<\/strong><\/p>\n

The core sessions of the conference on\u00a016 and 17 April<\/strong>\u00a0will facilitate exchange between stakeholders on the journey of a just transition towards a climate-neutral Europe. The event will spotlight the high-level discussion on the future of just transition, and it will provide good practice examples in harnessing the financing opportunities offered by the Just Transition Mechanism.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, specific sessions will address various topics such as effective just transition monitoring mechanisms, the role of just transition in poverty alleviation, empowering youth engagement, how to develop and implement energy communities, skills development for a green future and available on-the-ground support for regions.<\/p>\n

On\u00a0the third day of the conference, there will be a session organised by the Committee of Regions:\u00a0Multi-Level Dialogue on Just Transition<\/strong>. To register for this event, a link will soon be available in the programme in Swapcard.<\/p>\n

We are currently running three calls for applications to new editions of support services provided under the Platform.<\/p>\n

JTP Groundwork technical assistance \u2013 co-creative advisory support<\/strong><\/p>\n

JTP Groundwork is a comprehensive technical assistance programme, delivering tailored and needs-oriented capacity building and advisory support to JTF regions. It aims to support regions in implementing the commitments and priorities of their own TJTPs.<\/p>\n

JTP Groundwork exclusively targets\u00a0EU regions with approved TJTPs<\/a>, specifically municipalities, regional authorities, civil society, and socio-economic partners, as well as Managing Authorities actively contributing to the just transition process at regional, local, or community levels.<\/p>\n

JTPeers Exchange \u2013 facilitated peer-to-peer exchange programme<\/strong><\/p>\n

After successfully facilitating seven exchanges in 2023, this peer-to-peer programme continues to organise and implement in-person and online exchanges between different JTF territories\u2019 practitioners and JTPeers Experts listed on the\u00a0database<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Within the exchanges (some fully virtual, others designed as in-person visits), selected JTF regional stakeholders will explore mutually experienced challenges and draw upon their own lessons learned and knowledge to collectively identify potential solutions and pathways forward.<\/p>\n

New JTP Working Groups<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new JTP Working Groups will bring together stakeholders from across Europe with a common concern for the people and places affected by the transition to a climate-neutral economy.<\/p>\n

The JTP Working Groups will continue to provide a forum for strategic exchange on challenges shared by stakeholders involved in the transition process in coal and carbon-intensive regions, focusing, among others, on stakeholder engagement and equal opportunities, and will develop practical solutions and tools to tackle local challenges and mitigate the adverse effects of the transition process.<\/p>\n

Two new JTP Working Groups will be established, focusing on Stakeholder Engagement (cross-sectoral) and Equal Opportunities.<\/p>\n

JTP Lab to host final training session next week<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a new initiative this year, the JTP team is offering an application advisory facility, called JTP Lab for Open Calls, to support applicants during the application process. It is free of charge.<\/p>\n

On\u00a027 February at 14:30-16:00 CET<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>JTP Lab for Open Calls will host a training session on\u00a0submitting a thorough application<\/strong>. The session will provide expert input on finalising applications, address aspects such as ensuring political buy-in, involving stakeholders, specifying added value. It includes up to 1 hour of Q&A with breakout-rooms and will provide an opportunity to ask questions about the additional active calls for JTPeers Exchange and Working Groups. The Cohesion for Transitions (C4T) Community of Practice is calling for managing authorities and other stakeholders interested in joining working groups on energy, climate, and environment related to the implementation of sustainability transitions investments with support from cohesion policy.<\/p>\n

About the C4T Working Groups<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The\u00a0C4T Community of Practice<\/strong>\u00a0addresses horizontal and specific challenges faced by Managing Authorities and other stakeholders in implementing sustainability transitions with Cohesion Policy, particularly under Policy Objective 2 (PO2) \u201cA greener, low carbon transitioning towards a net zero carbon economy\u201d.<\/p>\n

As part of C4T, there are\u00a0three Working Groups on Energy, Environment, and Climate<\/strong>\u00a0that bring together managing authorities and other relevant stakeholders to come together and discuss common challenges and share solutions on cross-cutting and specific themes related to the implementation of investments and funds for sustainability transitions.<\/p>\n

Why join the Working Groups?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Working Groups launched in spring 2023 and have served as an informal space for members to gather at the bi-annual in-person meetings as well as online to gather to discuss, share, engage, and exchange with their peers. The Working Groups provide members with the opportunity to:<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0connect with your peers from across EU Member States to discuss common challenges,<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0learn from others\u2019 experiences, solutions, and approaches to implementing green investments,<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0showcase your own best practices,<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0make your voice heard on legal and policy bottlenecks, and<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0get dedicated technical assistance to support your green investments.<\/p>\n

Who can become a member of a C4T Working Group?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The main target membership for the Working Groups is\u00a0Managing Authorities<\/strong>\u00a0from EU Member States and regions, who are dealing with ERDF and Cohesion Fund and particularly PO2 \u201cA greener, low carbon transitioning towards a net zero carbon economy\u201d (according to the\u00a0ERDF and CF Regulation<\/a>). All Managing Authorities are encouraged to apply to ensure representation from transition and more developed regions\/countries, as well as a strong presence from less-developed regions.<\/p>\n

Intermediate bodies<\/strong>\u00a0or other public authorities involved in the implementation of investments in sustainability under PO2 and members of\u00a0monitoring committees<\/strong>\u00a0(in accordance with the\u00a0Common Provisions Regulation<\/a>) are also welcome to apply in agreement with their Managing Authority of reference.\u00a0Other relevant stakeholders will be considered on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n
